Ruardean Hill Radio Club meetings, February and March 2025
At the last club meeting it was decided to change how the club meets during the winter months.
The 1st Tuesday in the month will be at the Raurdean Sports Club as usual, the 3rd Tuesday in the month meeting will be on Echolink. All club members (and non-members) are welcome to join in.
Any licenced Amateur can use Echolink for free (if you don’t already have it). If you don’t have Echolink download it and start the process as soon as possible, you need to apply to use it and may need another Radio Amateur to verify them prior to using the platform. It’s best operated through a broadband connection, but will operate through a 4G mobile network but can sometimes break up when using a mobile network.
Around 19:50 I will log into Echolink. Please look for M0HIY and connect to my callsign to join the meeting, meetings start at 20:00 as usual . I can have up to 20 others on the same net at any one time, so this should be more than sufficient for the meeting (+ any others who request to join our meeting).
The meeting will probably run for around an hour, but possibly 2 hours if appropriate at the time.
In April we will be back at the Clubhouse on both the 1st and the 3rd Tuesday in the month.
During April we also aim to get a working party together to progress our repeater project. We have a suitable location available, and quite a number of the components required to put together a 2 meter or 70cm’s repeater. If anyone is available and interested in working with us on the project, please join one of the above meetings message through our WhatsApp group, Facebook or email [email protected] and let us know which dates (Saturdays or Sundays preferably) you are available.
Some club members are contributing £2 a month to ‘the pot’ to cover the repeater set-up and eventually, running costs. Currently this is by a simple standing order paid automatically into a bank account each month, at a time to suit you, additional contributors are welcome. Once the repeater has been operational for a month or two we will have a good idea of the cost, but hopefully £2 per member, each month should cover it.
We are open to other proposals from any club member regarding methods of regular funding.
